Department of Microbiology

Microbiology deals with microorganisms that cause diseases in humans. Microbiology essentially began with the development of microorganisms. The subject encompasses many sub-disciplines, including Virology, Parasitology, Mycology, Immunology and Bacteriology.
Microbiology has been proved to be one of the most important disciplines in Medicine, making it possible to identify how some of these organisms cause diseases, to discover cures for such diseases and even, to use some microbes for purposes beneficial to the mankind and development of vaccine.
Medical microbiology is concerned with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases caused by different types of microorganisms (infection). Body responses (immunity), vaccine and antibiotics play role to combat those diseases. Now Microbiology Department is dealing with Covid-19 test by RT-PCR in another campus.
